Friday Oct 6th 2017 - Dr Lucy Bamford comes from Derby Art Gallery which has the world's best collection of works by Joseph Wright,who was a an exact contemporary of Romney and links with him in various ways. She will concentrate on Wright's two visits to the lake District where he painted the landscape.
Friday Nov 3rd 2017 - Capt. Rupert Nichol R.N.(Events Officer at Garrick's Shakespeare Temple) will speak on the varied portrayals of the great actor. Garrick knew Romney.
Friday Dec 1st 2017 - Rosie Razzall Windsor Library The Life and Art of Paul Sandby.
Friday Jan 12th 2018 - Dr Tom Stammers of the History Dept., Durham University will speak on Jaques Louis David, the greatest paint er of the Revolution, whom Romney met in Paris in 1791.
Friday 9th Feb 2018 - Nick Cullinan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery and our new President, will speak on the Georgian portraits in the National Collection.
Friday 9th March 2018 - Prof. David Bindman has recently published a study of Canova, who was a friend of Flaxman, and Europe's most celebrated artist around the end of the 18th century.
Friday 6th April 2018- Our AGM - Our Chairman will speak on Romney's drawings of Mary Queen of Scots. (This is a free lecture).
Friday 6th April 2018 - Dr Xavier Bray, the new Director of the Wallace Collection, who was responsible for the major National Gallery exhibition of Goya's portraits , 2 years ago, will speak on this theme.
